Youth Photography for Environmental Advocacy

Welcome to Canyon Voices. We are a youth-led photography and civic engagement program that empowers students to document Utah's Cottonwood Canyons while developing critical thinking skills around environmental policy and community advocacy. Through partnership with local community organizations, the program creates a platform for youth voices in the community. Join us in our journey to capture stunning moments and make a difference.

OUR MISSION

Canyon Voices uses photography as a way for young people to connect with nature, tell meaningful stories, and explore the future of Utah’s canyons.

Through hands-on experiences, mentorship, and community engagement, students develop their voice while documenting the landscapes that matter to them.

Shiv Sondhi

Shiv is a high school student at Waterford School and the founder of Canyon Voices. Growing up near the Cottonwood Canyons, he developed a deep connection to the outdoors through hiking, skiing, and photography.

Canyon Voices started as a way to combine that passion with a larger purpose - helping other students explore the canyons, tell their stories, and engage with the future of these landscapes.
